Patent and Trademark Office Society
The Patent and Trademark Office Society (PTOS) is an American society of intellectual property professionals established in 1917. The society publishes a quarterly journal Journal of the Patent & Trademark Office Society (JPTOS). The PTOS was formerly known as the Patent Office Society until November of 1984 when the society became the Patent & Trademark Office Society.
Structure
The PTOS membership consists of over 4000 patent examiners with the remainder of the body coming from other intellectual property professionals. The society as a whole is run by an elected executive board and board of directors. The executive board is composed of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Administrator. The board of directors is composed of representatives from selected areas within the USPTO as well as the immediate past president of the society.
