Pat McDonagh

Patrick "Pat" McDonagh is the founder of Supermac's - a major Irish fast food franchiser. A former school teacher, he is now a multi-millionaire. [1]

He founded Supermac's in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland in 1978 after failing to get planning permission to build a pool hall.

He also owns The Claddagh Irish Pubs, a casual Irish pub-themed chain in the United States, and owns property around the country. [2]

He was educated at Carmelite College, Moate, Co. Westmeath and Mary Immaculate College, Limerick.[3]

In 1983 he founded the CBT Group which ultimately became SmartForce/Skillsoft – the largest elearning provider in the US Corporate market. Pat then moved on to found Riverdeep, a company that delivered on his original vision of providing an online learning suite to schools. Riverdeep grew to become the largest provider of elearning content to US schools. Having established two significant companies that provide elearning to the corporate and schools market, Pat formed ThirdForce (now MindLeaders) to deliver elearning solutions to the wider adult population, both pre-employment and in employment.[4]
