Pasadena High School (Pasadena, Texas)

Pasadena High School is a secondary school in Pasadena, Texas, located along State Highway 225 (La Porte Freeway). It serves grades 9 through 12 and is part of the Pasadena Independent School District. The school had 2260 students during the 2010-2011 school year. The Principal (as of 2012) is Joe Saavedra. Pasadena High School's mascot is an eagle named "Baldy". The school colors are green and white.

School uniforms

As of 2009, all Pasadena High School students are able to wear any solid color shirts oxford shirt or polo shirt and denim, khaki, or navy trousers, skirts, and dresses. All Pasadena Independent School District schools are required to have standardized dress.[1]

Sports

Pasadena has a diverse sports programs including baseball, basketball, cross country, track, football, soccer, volleyball, golf, tennis, aquatics (swimming, diving, finswimming, open water) and softball. Football and basketball have the most storied tradition with a State Finalist in Football, a State Championship in Basketball, and State Championships in Track.

The facilities at Pasadena High School have gone through major renovations. All sub-varsity games are held on campus while some Varsity contests are held in Bob Barfield Gynasium on campus named after Coach Barfield who led the Eagles to their State Finalist run in football. The district facilities shared by the other 4 high schools are Pasadena Veteran's Memorial Stadium for football and soccer, Auxiliary Stadium, basketball and volleyball share Weldon "Stoney" Phillips Field House which is named after Coach Phillips who coached the Eagles from 1951 - 1957. Baseball is played at Maguire Field for Varsity contests and Softball and sub-varsity baseball games are played at the P.I.S.D. Sports Complex. The aquatics (swimming, diving, finswimming, open water) team trains at the City of Pasadena Strawberry Pool and Beverly Hill Pool.

Organizations

Pasadena High School also has The Eagle Alliance (band), The Junior ROTC (Marine Division), Orchestra, The Eagle Escort (dance team), Choir, Theatre, photography and a slew of clubs and organizations.

In recent years the school has sent students into the Texas All-State Choir and Orchestra and continues to achieve high ratings at UIL Contest.

The 2009-2010 school year saw the production of the school's first musical theatre production in 26 years which was very well received.
