Parul Yadav is an Indian television and film actress and a model, who has appeared in various television shows and in South Indian films, primarily in Kannada. She made her acting debut in the Television series Bhagyavidhaata. She rose to fame by acting in the Kannada film Govindaya Namaha (2011) and it earned her the SIIMA Best Debutant award (2013) and Bangalore Times Best Newcomer Award (2013). The movie also got her nomination for Udaya Awards for Best Female actor.[1] She won the SIIMA Best Supporting Actress Award (2014) for her role in Bachchan (2013 film). She was also nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award 61st Filmfare Awards South for her performance in Bachchan (2013 film).

Career

Parul's career began as a TV actor in Mumbai. She made her debut in the 2000 film Meri Aaghosh Mein starring Shakti Kapoor and then appeared in a 2004 Tamil film Dreams starring Dhanush and Diya. She switched over to Television with the daily soap-opera Bhagyavidhaata which has aired on Colors since 2009. This was soon followed by the comedy reality show Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala on Star Plus where she was a participant representing the team "Raveena Ke Mohre.

In 2011, she made her Kannada film debut in Govindaya Namaha which went on to become one of the highest grossing films of that year. She played the role of Mumtaz, a Muslim girl falling in love with Govinda played by Komal Kumar. Her portrayal won her a SIIMA Best Debutant award (2013) and Bangalore Times Best Newcomer Award (2013)and a nomination in the Udaya Film Awards for the best actor category for that year.[1] The song "Pyarge Aagbittaite" featuring her went viral on the internet sites and propelled her stardom. The same pairing in the 2012 film Nandeesha, however, could not continue the success at the box-office. Parul Yadav won the 'Glamour Icon of the Year' award given away by Suvarna TV channel.

Parul's next project was for the multi-starrer film Bachchan (2013 film) directed by Shashank and starring Sudeep in the lead role.[2] Currently, Yadav is filming for Shivajinagara, produced by Ramu Films. She was paired opposite Duniya Vijay. [3] The movie was a blockbuster having completed 100 days of screening in theatres.

In 2014, Parul has signed two landmark projects of her career. She plays the role of an advocate in Vaastu Prakaara, which is being directed by renowned film-maker Yogaraj Bhat. Simultaneously, she is shooting for Uppi 2, as one of the two females. In this movie, she is paired opposite the maverick film-maker and actor Upendra. The actress has commenced shooting for an untitled mult-starrer movie being directed by K M Chaitanya. Her next project is a movie opposite Chiranjeevi Sarja. She has also signed Jessie to be directed by another hit film-maker Pawan Wadeyar.
