Parramatta High School (PHS) is a public, co-educational high school located in Parramatta, a western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Established in 1913, Parramatta High School was the first co-educational school in the Sydney metropolitan area. The school was previously a selective high school, and since 2010 it has been a partially selective school in the Parramatta region. It is a very multicultural school teaching students from all walks of life.

Parramatta High is a partially Selective High School with an extensive curriculum and offers a wide range of elective subjects including Vocational Education and TAFE options for the Higher School Certificate.

Operated by the New South Wales Department of Education and Communities, the school currently caters for approximately 840 students from Years 7 to 12.

Technology

The study of Technology and Applied Science (TAS) courses, such as Food Technology, Textiles, Metalwork and Woodwork is mandatory for students in Years 7 and 8 and optional for all other students. Parramatta High School offers the following facilities for students studying TAS courses:

House system

At the beginning of Year 7, all Parramatta High students are placed in one of the following four houses, usually on the basis of their last name:

Every year three sporting carnivals are held in which students compete to earn their house points. A winner of each carnival and of the overall house championship is announced each year.

Additionally, the houses are used to form the basis of roll call, which students attend every morning for 20 minutes. Each house consists of 7 roll calls, each with approximately 30 students.

Centenary

In 2013 Parramatta High School celebrated its centenary, marking 100 years since its establishment on 28 January 1913.
