Parihar Meenas

Parihar or Pratihar Meenas is one of the sub group of Meenas. In Olden times, there was the Republic of Meenas which was won by hara Rajputs and established an independent state. They lived their life like prehistoric man. But gradually they started taking interest in agriculture. They are mainly found in the region of Bundi city. They were initial builder of Bundi and Bundi is named after the King Bunda Meena. In ancient time Bundi was called “Bundu-Ka-Nal", Nal means “narrow ways”. Later the region was governed by Rao Deva Hara. He took over Bundi from Rāja Jaitasingh Meena in 1342 by fraud and killing thousands of minas. Later he renamed the whole area as Haravati or Haroti.
