The Pangborn-Herndon Memorial Site is dedicated to the Clyde Edward Pangborn and Hugh Herndon, Jr., the two men who made the first non-stop flight across the Pacific Ocean from Misawa, Japan to East Wenatchee, Washington without stopping.[2] The memorial is northeast of East Wenatchee and consists of a 14 foot high, 14 ton basalt column atop a concrete base. The column is topped by 36 inch wings made of aluminum.[3]
