Palaquium grande is a species of plant in the Sapotaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
terminally crowded, oval, tapered base, apex rounded, shortly pointed, lateral veins parallel, sometimes beneath.
Trunk
Bark - brown, thick, prominently scarred.
Flowers
pale yellow, clusters of 2-5 in leaf axils.
Fruits
purple, nearly globose, smooth, berry; 6-ovoid, shiny seeds.
Ecology
montane and rain forest canopy.
Uses
Wood - construction, plywood.
