History

The arena site was previously home to a bullfighting ring, Plaza de Toros de Carabanchel, built in 1908.

In 1980, the original bullring closed, and the site stood empty until plans were unveiled in 1996 for the modern arena, which would also be capable of staging bullfights.

The arena was opened in 2000, offering a seating capacity of between 14,000 and 15,000, depending on the configuration, and has 1,500 parking places.
