The Paengmu Line is a partially electrified narrow gauge line of the North Korean State Railway running from Paegam on the Paektusan Ch'ŏngnyŏn Line to Musan on the Musan Line.[1] The electrified section runs 111 km from Paegam Ch'ŏngnyŏn station to Yugok, whence the remaining 80.7 km to the terminus at Musan remains unelectrified.
History
The construction was started at Paegam station by the Government Railways of Chosen(朝鮮総督府鉄道) in 1932.[2] The interval between Paegam and Sanyangdae was first opened on 1 September 1934 and extended to Yŏn'am on the same date of the year 1935. The interval between Yŏn'am and Yup'yŏngdong was opened on 15 October 1936 and extended to Yŏnsa on 1 October 1939. On 1 December 1944 the construction of this line was completed and this line was connected with the Musan Line at the Musan station.
