History

PS I Love You, a play on lead-singer and guitarist Paul Saulnier's initials, formed in Kingston in 2006 as a solo project. Drummer Benjamin Nelson joined in 2008. Saulnier and Nelson had previously worked together in another Kingston band, Magic Jordan. The band gained notoriety as a result of a split 7" with artist Diamond Rings, which led to both groups gaining favourable reviews from Pitchfork Media.[1][2]

Critical acclaim

The band's debut album, Meet Me at the Muster Station (released October 5, 2010), was reviewed favorably (8.1) by Pitchfork Media, who called it "a compact debut that nonetheless feels momentously epic".[3] As well, their track "Facelove" received an 8 and was branded "Best New Music" by Pitchfork Media.[4]

Meet Me at the Muster Station received Exclaim!'s No. 4 spot for Top Pop & Rock Albums of 2010.<ref name= Exclaim!'s Year in Review - Top Pop & Rock Albums of 2010>"Pop & Rock Year in Review". Exclaim!.</ref> Writer Alex Hudson describes the band's debut as "fully formed." Hudson goes on to say, "this Kingston duo delivers its catchy hooks with brute force, pummeling listeners with fuzzy guitars and thundering rhythms."

Meet Me at the Muster Station was placed on the longlist of nominees for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize.[5]

Their second album, Death Dreams, was released on May 8, 2012, on Paper Bag Records.[6] The record was their second consecutive nomination to the Polaris Prize Long List.[7]

The band released their third studio album, For Those Who Stay, on July 22, 2014, on Paperbag Records.[8]
