Outside Source is a news programme produced by the BBC; it utilizes social media in the presentation of its stories. The programme is presented by Ros Atkins and Krupa Padhy on both BBC World News and BBC World Service.
Outside Source replaced a standard edition of BBC World News, which originally was an edition of World News Today. In the UK it replaced the BBC News at Nine along with World News Today on weekends.
According the BBC: "Outside Source aims to open up the news process, enabling people to discover the latest on the stories that matter to them. An hour-long World Service Radio show is the first element of the pan-Global News format to be brought to air."[1]
The programme was launched on BBC World Service on October 28, 2013; and on BBC World News on February 14, 2014. It will official launch in the UK on June 2, 2015. Though it has been broadcast during major stories in the UK.
