Osteochilus melanopleurus is a freshwater fish that inhabits rivers, swamps, and marshlands, and is adapted to impounded waters and seasonally flooded habitats.[1] It is found in the Tapee River, Mekong River, Mun River, Chao Phraya River, and Yom River and elsewhere in most countries in Indochina. It is eaten as a foodfish and is often processed into fermented products.[1]
