Osborne is a north-western suburb of Adelaide on the LeFevre Peninsula, in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, 19 km from the Adelaide city centre. It is bounded to the south by Moldavia Walk and Solvay Road, to the north by Marmora Terrace, to the west by Gulf St Vincent and to the east by the Port River.

History

Osborneville Post Office opened around 1922; it was renamed Taperoo on 1 February 1964, and North Haven in 1989.[1]

In mid-2005, Osborne was selected as the site of construction for the RAN's A$6 billion air warfare destroyer.

Community services

Osborne is the home of LeFevre Reserve, which also hosts a community centre.

There are no schools in the suburb. The closest schools are in the adjacent suburbs of North Haven (North Haven Primary School (R-7)) and Taperoo (Ocean View College (B-12),[3] originally Taperoo High School).

Public transport

Adelaide Metro bus services: route 333 (serves Military Road); route 150 (serves Victoria Road).

The Outer Harbor railway line serves Midlunga railway station, (and the Osborne railway station in North Haven).
