The Orvis Road Historic District is a historic district between Massachusetts Ave., Freeman, Randolph and Newcomb Streets on Orvis Road in Arlington, Massachusetts. The district contains 26 residences built circa 1920-1930 as part of a unified development plan on land previously used for farming. Houses include bungalows and two-family homes. Orvis Road itself includes a grassy median area planted with oak and maple trees. Although the development was located near Massachusetts Avenue and public transit, the presence of a significant number of c. 1920s garages indicates the importance of the automobile to the area's residents.[2]
The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.[1]
