Oru Vadakkan Selfie (English: A Northern Selfie) is a 2015 Malayalam comedy thriller cum road movie directed by G. Prajith and scripted by Vineeth Sreenivasan.[1] The film features Nivin Pauly, Manjima Mohan, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav and Vineeth Sreenivasan.[2][3] Music is composed by Shaan Rahman. The film released on March 27 and received highly positive reviews from critics as well as audience.[4] And became a commercial successful Malayalam film of 2015.[5]
Plot
Umesh (Nivin Pauly) is a Carefree engineering student, who has 42 back papers to clear. His close pals are Shaji (Aju Varghese) and Thankaprasad (Neeraj Madhav).
Wanting to find a quick way to money and fame he decides to try his hand in movies and sets out to meet renowned director Goutham Menon. Umesh boards a train to Chennai in which Daisy, his neighbor, is also travelling.
However upon returning home, Umesh finds himself at the center of a controversy. Along with Shaji, he sets out to Chennai to clear his name. There they encounter Jack Tracker (Vineeth Sreenivasan), a private detective, who offers to help solve the mess they are in.
Oru Vadakkan Selfie is a quick witted tale of two naive souls who get into all sorts of trouble only to learn a thing or two about life.

Critical reception
The movie mainly received positive reviews from the audience as well the critics.
Filmibeat gave a rating of 3/5 and said "A hilarious entertainer for this Vishu season, which will make you laugh your heart out". Malayala Manorama gave a rating of 3.25/5.[7] The Times of India mentions it to be "worth a watch for the performance of its vibrant cast and many moments of wit they pull off effortlessly" and awards a rating of 3/5 stars. [8] The New Indian Express labeled it as "A Good-humoured Mass Selfie".[9] International Business Times rated 3.5/5 stara abd called it "A hilarious flick from Nivin Pauly-Aju Varghese team" and concluded "Overall, Oru Vadakkan Selfie is worth your time and money if you are looking ahead for a fun-filled day".[10]
It has also succeeded in gaining amassing positive reviews from all quarters and even from acclaimed directors likes B. Unnikrishnan, Rajesh Pillai etc.[11] The movie has a cumulative rating of 7.3 on BookMyShow.
Box office
The film received a very good word of mouth from the audience. Taking collections from Kerala alone it earned 4.82 crore (US$770,000) share in its first week of release. And 3 crore (US$480,000) if added the collections from theatres outside Kerala and abroad.
