"Only U" (Hangul: 대답은 너니까; RR: Daedabeun Neonikka; lit. "Because You're the Answer") is an R&B song recorded by South Korean idol group VIXX. The song served as a pre-release single for their first full album Voodoo. It was released digitally on November 7 through Jellyfish Entertainment.[1] A representative of their agency said, "The new song ‘Only U’ will show a different style to VIXX that wasn’t shown before. Before the group has shown different concepts like vampires and Jekyll and Hyde. Once more, the group will show an unconventional image."[1]

The song's music video was directed by Hong Won Ki of ZanyBros, who also directed their previous music videos for "Hyde" and "G.R.8.U".

Production

"Only U" was produced by the kpop songwriter Shinsadong Tiger, co-produced by 4Beontaja and Jellyfish Entertainment CEO Hwang Se-jun. Shinsadong Tiger and 4Beontaja arranged the song. VIXX's rapper Ravi teamed up with writer Kim Ji-hyang to write the lyrics. The song’s genre ranges from R&B to jazz to rock.[2]

Promotions

Live Performances

VIXX first performed "Only U" live at the final concert of their Milky Way Global Showcase tour in Seoul on November 20. Later that same day they performed a short version of the song on MBC Music's Show Champion.

They also performed the song on KBS's Music Bank on November 22, on SBS MTV's The Show on November 26 and on Arirang's Simply Kpop on December 3.

Music video

Background

The music video for the song was directed by Hong Won Ki and filmed in Stockholm in Sweden, capturing the beautiful scenery of the country and blending the exotic music with the beautiful landscape and rich visuals.[3]
