The OnePlus 2 is a smartphone designed and manufactured by OnePlus, LLC. The phone was initially revealed in a news leak in December 2014, which labeled the smartphone in development as the "OnePlus Mini". OnePlus then announced the smartphone's official name as OnePlus 2.[1] CEO Carl Pei later confirmed that OnePlus will officially announce the phone during Q2/Q3 2015.[2]
Development
The OnePlus 2 is expected to be in development until its release in late 2015. While the OnePlus One used Cyanogen OS, an Android-based system, business issues with Cyanogen exclusivity deals forced OnePlus to cut ties with Cyanogen. The OnePlus 2, as a result, is expected to use OxygenOS,[3] OnePlus' in-house operating system based on Android Lollipop. In January 2015, it was reported that the OnePlus 2 was delayed to a late 2015 release, possibly due to hardware issues with the Snapdragon 810 processor.[4] In early April 2015, CEO Carl Pei confirmed the OnePlus 2 doesn't feature wireless charging.[5] During April 2015, OnePlus also released OxygenOS, OnePlus' own version of Android 5 Lollipop, expected to appear in some form on the OnePlus 2.[6]
