OneNeck IT Solutions is a hosted application management and managed hosting provider. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. [NYSE: TDS], a Fortune 1000 company. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, OneNeck operates multiple data centers across the U.S.

OneNeck provides hosted application management, managed hosting, infrastructure services and cloud services. During multiple years, the company was ranked Number One "ERP Management Outsourcer" and Number One "Mid-Tier Service Provider of Data Center Management" in The Black Book of Outsourcing surveys conducted by the Brown-Wilson Group.[1] OneNeck was also recognized by industry analyst Gartner, Inc. as a “Visionary” in its Oracle Outsourcing Magic Quadrant.

History

Known as OneNeck IT Solutions and led by Phil LaForge, the chief executive officer, the company was built through acquisitions of VISI Inc. (Minneapolis); TEAM Technologies (Madison, Wis.); OneNeck IT Services Corp. (Scottsdale, Ariz.); Vital Support Systems (Des Moines, Iowa); MSN Communications (Englewood, Colo.). Originally known as ""OneNeck IT Services" it was founded in 1997 by a group of individuals led by Chuck Vermillion. The name “OneNeck” was selected to convey the company’s philosophy of total solutions with accountability.[2]

Since its inception, OneNeck IT Services reported consecutive years of profitability. [3] In addition to its continuous profitability, the company disclosed approximately 90% of its revenue is derived from long-term contracts.[2]

In 2004, OneNeck IT Services launched Oracle ERP outsourcing services and Microsoft Dynamics AX hosted managed services.

During its history, OneNeck IT Services completed three acquisitions: In September 2003, it acquired the assets of Virtual ESI Corporation, a JD Edwards outsourcing and consulting business.[4] In February 2007, the company acquired Delinea Corporation, an information technology services company providing Oracle ERP outsourcing and utilities consulting services.[5] OneNeck also acquired the managed hosting division of Ensynch (now Insight Enterprises) in 2008.[6]

OneNeck IT Services received a $12.8 million equity investment in June 2005[7] led by WestView Capital Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm targeting lower middle market companies.[8]

OneNeck IT Services ranked repeatedly as the Number One "ERP Management Outsourcer" and Number One "Mid-Tier Service Provider of Data Center Management" by The Black Book of Outsourcing. The independent survey, conducted by the Brown-Wilson Group, receives feedback from over 100,000 outsourcing users and decision makers globally to determine the top vendors. The study represents only unbiased, audited ranking results of outsourcing vendors worldwide.[1]

In April 2006, OneNeck IT Services was selected the Vendor of the Year for Skanska USA Building Inc.,[9] and in November 2005 the company was named to bizAZ Magazine’s 2005 Hot Growth list, a ranking of Arizona’s 10 fastest growing companies.[10]

As published in the Phoenix Business Journal, June 6, 2008, OneNeck IT Services was ranked #1 computer consulting firm in the Phoenix metro area.[11]

OneNeck IT Services ranked 3rd in Arizona Business Magazine’s Ranking Arizona: The Best of Arizona Business 2008 in the Computer Consulting Firms category. The company has regularly ranked in the Top Ten during subsequent years. As the largest business opinion poll in Arizona, Ranking Arizona solicits the general public to vote on business and leisure activities of Arizona’s business professionals.[12]

Also during 2008, OneNeck IT Services launched its cloud computing services.

In December 2009, industry analyst Gartner, Inc. positioned OneNeck IT Services as a "Visionary" in its Oracle Outsourcing Magic Quadrant.[13]

Also in 2009, OneNeck IT Services was a finalist for the Small Company Innovator of the Year Award at the Governor’s Celebration of Innovation (GCOI). Chuck Vermillion, was also honored with the Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year award from GCOI.[14]

Inc. magazine ranked OneNeck IT Services No. 3667 in the 2010 "Inc. 5000" and No. 50 on its Top Companies in the Phoenix metro area.[15]

From 2009 to 2011, OneNeck IT Services was selected as one of The Top 50 Largest Private Companies by the ACE Awards.[16]

In June 2011, OneNeck IT Services was named to bizAZ Magazine's Hot Growth list, a ranking of the 10 fastest growing companies in Arizona.[17]

Also in June 2011, OneNeck IT Services was acquired by Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. [NYSE: TDS], a Fortune 500® company. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Chicago, Telephone and Data Systems employed 12,300 people as of March 31, 2012. The parent company provides wireless, local and long-distance telephone and Internet services to approximately seven million customers in 36 states through TDS Telecommunications Corp. and U.S. Cellular® [NYSE: USM], its majority owned wireless subsidiary.[18]

As a result of the acquisition, OneNeck IT Services operated within the TDS Hosted & Managed Services (TDS HMS) division of TDS Telecommunications. OneNeck worked closely with the sister companies of TDS HMS — TEAM Technologies and VISI, acquired by Telephone and Data Systems in December and March 2010, respectively. VISI operated two data centers in Minnesota and TEAM operated three data centers - two in Iowa and one in Wisconsin. OneNeck IT Services also operated two data centers in Arizona and one in New Jersey.

Solutions

OneNeck divides solutions into five segments:

  1. Hosted Application Management — OneNeck manages customers' Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and related software, as well as enterprise-wide applications including e-mail, collaboration, reporting and business intelligence systems. OneNeck supports a variety of ERP systems including Oracle, Baan, JD Edwards and Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  2. Cloud Services — As Internet-based computing, Cloud computing provides shared resources, software and information to end user computers and other devices on-demand. Businesses can access technologies they need, when they need them, at the scale they require.
  3. Managed Hosting — OneNeck manages and hosts customers' IT platform or components in its data centers. The customer uses either OneNeck equipment or its company-owned equipment. Additional services include back-ups, VPN, WAN connectivity, ASP software licensing and NAS/SAN storage.
  4. Infrastructure Services — After analyzing a company's IT infrastructure, OneNeck provides a risk assessment of business-critical environments. Infrastructure services are designed to protect customer data, networks and systems.
  5. Additional Services — OneNeck also provides Tier 1 Application Support, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Administration, Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI) Support, Desktop Support and 24/7 Support Center.

OneNeck completed the audit for SSAE 16 standards. Effective June 2011, Statement on Auditing Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16) replaced the SAS 70 audit standard. SSAE 16 was implemented to update the reporting standards in the United States to comply with international reporting standards.[19]

The company adheres to ITIL® (the Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices. ITIL represents the most widely accepted approach to IT service management. OneNeck also meets the requirements for data center PCI and HIPAA compliant hosting.

In addition, OneNeck has formed alliances with application, technology and user groups. OneNeck is a Microsoft Certified Partner (Gold Hosting, Silver Data Platform, Silver Server Platform), Gold Certified Oracle Hosting Service Provider, Infor Channel Partner, Authorized Dell Reseller, Hewlett-Packard Business Partner and IBM Business Partner. The company also participates in the Microsoft Dynamics AX User Group (AXUG), Quest International Users Group, Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) and the VMWare User Group.

Current Projects and Customers

OneNeck IT Services supported over 960 customer sites and over 68,000 users worldwide. In addition, the company served 140 customers in 45 different countries.[2] Representative customers include A-dec, Bosley, Constar, Cytec Engineered Materials, Duro Industries, Ensynch, Esselte, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, Flowserve, Golden Temple,[20] Herman Miller, Louisville Metro, Maine Public Service Company, Missa Bay, Mountain Park Health Center, Naumann Hobbs, On Time Express, Regency Lighting, Rockford Corporation, Russell Stover Candies, Six Sigma Academy, Skanska USA Building Inc., Sprouts Farmers Market, Spyder Active Sports, Sunny Delight Beverages Co., Targus International and The Little Gym.[2] Current projects span solution categories of hosted application management, managed hosting, infrastructure services, cloud services and additional services.
