OLX.ph (formerly Sulit.com.ph and AyosDito.ph) is a classified ads website that caters primarily to Philippine consumers. It is an online marketplace where people buy and sell a wide variety of goods, products and services under different categories such as real estate, automotives, careers, business products and services, and many more among Filipino individuals and business groups all over the world.[3]

Launched on September 11, 2006, the free online classified ads website was named Sulit.com.ph for 2 reasons: (1) “Sulit” is a Filipino word that means “worth it” in English, describing the affordability of items being sold by the site’s members; and (2) Sulit is an acronym for “Super Low Internet Trading.”

In addition to the buy and sell platform, Sulit.com.ph also provides an online community among Filipino web users. Through the Sulit.com.ph forum, members interact with one another about various topics including business, lifestyle, current events, and health among many others. Thus, Sulit.com.ph can also be translated as “Sulit Community in the Philippines.”

On March 19, 2014, Sulit.com.ph was acquired by OLX, an internet company headquartered in New York City, and it was rebranded as OLX.ph.

History

Initially, Sulit.com.ph was designed and launched to the public with several buy and sell product categories to be able to test which specific category is popular and most used among members and web users. Once the popular category is identified, the website is to be designed to focus on such niche.

However, traffic to the website started to show growth by the end of November 2006. Thus, founders decided to continue the website as a classified ads platform, instead of targeting a specific niche. The continued growth of the website month by month led the founders to register a sole-proprietorship entity under the name Netrepreneur Connections Enterprises, Incorporated or NetCon on April 17, 2007.

By then, one of the primary objectives of the website was to connect internet entrepreneurs, thus the name “Netrepreneur.” It was also during this time that the founders used “Pay It Forward” as the motto of Sulit.com.ph.

Sulit.com.ph has established its remarkable strength on the Internet,[4] owing its high rankings on search engines. Up to the present, the website continues to receive high amount of traffic because of the growing popularity of the Internet as a medium for business advertising. Majority of Sulit.com.ph’s visitors are buyers who are utilizing the Internet to look for and buy affordable products and/or services.

Sulit merged operations with OLX Philippines since December 2013 and now completely folded and relaunched as OLX Philippines.[5] Starting January 22, 2015, AyosDito.ph, another Philippine-based buy and sell platform which used to be the main competitor of Sulit.com in online advertisement merged with OLX.ph.[6]
