Oksana Serikova (also Oxana Serikova, Ukrainian: Оксана Серікова; born June 11, 1985 in Amvrosiivka, Donetsk) is a Ukrainian swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events.[1] She helped out her Ukrainian team to break a national record time of 4:05.56 in the women's medley relay at the 2006 European Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.[2] She is also an eighth-place finalist in the 50 m freestyle at the 2010 European Aquatics Championships in the same location as four years before.[3]
Serikova qualified for the women's 50 m freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by clearing a FINA B-standard entry time of 25.56 from the EDF Swimming Open in Paris, France.[4][5] She challenged seven other swimmers on the ninth heat, including five-time Olympian and two-time silver medalist Martina Moravcová of Slovakia. Serikova raced to sixth place by 0.06 of a second behind returning Olympian and Texas Longhorns swimmer Chang Hee-Jin of South Korea in 25.65 seconds. Serikova failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed thirty-second out of 92 swimmers in the preliminary heats.[6]
