- Sony announces that first-party PlayStation 3 launch titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Genji: Days of the Blade will be priced at ¥5980 (about $50 USD), contrary to previous reports which indicated that the titles would be in the $75 to $85 range.[4]

Midway Ships Mortal Kombat Armageddon to United States stores, with the Premium Editions going to Best Buy, GameStop, GameCrazy, and Wal-Mart. MK:A Regular is Priced at $40.00 US Dollars and 50 US Dollars for Premium.
October 11th
- Electronic Arts moves its international headquarters to Geneva, Switzerland.[5]

- Capcom announces that it will dissolve Clover Studio.[6]
- Jack Thompson has won a court action forcing publisher Take-Two Interactive to provide him with an advanced copy of the game Bully, so that he can judge whether it violates Florida public nuisance laws.[7]
October 13th
- A Miami-Dade County judge decides not to ban Bully from being sold in the state, as was demanded by lawyer Jack Thompson.[8]
