Oberoi International School is an International School in Mumbai, India, it was opened on the 17 July 2008, and is directed by Ms. Bindu Oberoi, who has directed it since the school was started.[1] The school is fully accredited for all the programmes it offers. It has now also received the CIS accreditation. CIS,[2] [3]
History and foundation
The school was started in July, 2008, at this time the aim of the school was to provide the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme for children below 10–11 years (up to Grade 5), the Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme (now Cambridge Lower Secondary 1), the IGCSE curriculum for children over 14 and under 16 (Grade 9 to 10) and the IB Diploma Programme for children older than 16 (Grades 11 and 12).[1] And in 2014 they are still providing these curricula.[4]
The school is run by a board of trustees, the chair of the Board is Ms. Bindu Oberoi.[5]

The teacher to student ratio in Primary is 1:10, meaning there is 1 teacher for every 10 children. In Secondary, the ratio is 1:18. The school campus is 400,000 square feet.[4]

Subjects offered
The IBO's PYP curriculum is followed till Grade 5 and Cambridge Secondary 1 is followed from Grades 6-8. The Cambridge Secondary 1 acts as a good preparation to the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education).
Students study the IGCSE programme in grade 9 and 10. The IGCSE is a comprehensive programme that covers a number of subject areas such as Mathematics, Science, Humanities, English, Languages, Art, Technology and Social Sciences.
Students of grade 11 and grade 12 study the DP (Diploma) Programme of the IBO. The curriculum consists of six main groups of subjects around three core requirements.
The six groups are:
- Group 1: Eng A Literature HL/SL, Eng A Language and Literature HL/SL
- Group 2: French ab initio SL; French B-HL/SL; Hindi B-HL/SL; Spanish B-HL/SL; Spanish Ab SL
- Group 3: Business & Management HL/SL, Economics HL/ SL; Environmental systems & Societies (ONLY SL)
- Group 4: Biology HL/SL, Chemistry HL/ SL, Physics HL/ SL; ESS SL
- Group 5: Mathematics HL/ Math SL/ Math Studies
- Group 6: Visual Art HL/ SL, Theatre SL
CAS Activities
CAS stands for "Creativity Action Service"
CAS is one of the three core requirements IBDP prides itself on. It is a framework for experimental learning, designed to involve young people in new roles. The emphasis is on learning by doing real tasks that have real consequences and then reflecting on these experiences over time.

Student Council
Each year, students are elected to be part of the student council which plays an important part in the school's decision making. The council consists of two representatives from grades 5–8, the Class Representative and Deputy respectively. The head boy and head girl are elected by all students and teachers from grades 5–8 to lead the student council and represent OIS.
The current President of the Student Council is Dani Naidu, Grade 11. The Vice-President is Avvalzameer Bhatia, Grade 11.
