The Oakey Power Station is a 332 MW[1] power station located in Oakey on the Darling Downs in southern Queensland, adjacent to the Roma-to-Brisbane gas pipeline. The station is an open-cycle, dual-fuel, gas-fired power station that operates during times of peak demand. ERM Power led the development of the project and retains an 83.33% effective interest in, and operates, the power station.[1] Having announced on 15 November 2013 its intention to assume full ownership by 30 November 2014,[2] the transaction was completed by 8 December 2013.[3]

The Oakey Power Station was the first tender involving the private sector and public utilities in Queensland. ERM Power invited AIDC Ltd and Siemens to support the successful bid. The station is on a long-term PPA with AGL Energy, which expires at the end of 2014.[1]
