O Cravo e a Rosa (English: The Carnation and the Rose) is a Brazilian telenovela produced and broadcast by Rede Globo. It ran from June 26, 2000 to March 10, 2001. It is based on the Shakespearean comedy The Taming of the Shrew. It is currently being broadcast in Portugal, on SIC.
Plot
A single farmer who needs money to save his land. A wealthy politician willing to get his older daughter married at any cost.
Everything would fit in perfectly if she wasn't a feminist who refuses the role of a housewife. A romantic comedy set in the 20s, inspired by The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare.[1]
