The Nutkani, Notakzai (نوتكانى or نتكانى, نوتکزئی) or Notkani Nodhkani are Balochi, Sindhi and Saraiki speaking Baloch tribe of Eastern Balochistan, Nutkani or Nothakzai is the main sub-tribe of Rind Baloch because Mir Notak Khan Rind was the son of Meer Hassan Khan Rind brother of Mir Shehak Khan Rind, So Mir Notak was the family member of Mir Chakar Khan Rind and they also migrated with Chieftain Rind Baloch from Makoran to Kachhi.

Location

The majority of the tribe occupies the Northern most territory of the District of Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan and its adjacent tribal areas in the Suleiman Mountains. Important centers of the tribe include Basti nutkani or nutkanry Mangrotha, Sokar Kharan, Usta Mohd, Turbat, Hairo, Bindi, Makwal, Mithay Wali Taunsa Sharif, Jhoke Uttra[Kot Chutta] Butkil, Sibi, Jaffarabad, Rajanpur, Dera Bugti. Nutkani are also in Sindh District Badin Taluka Badin, Taluka Matli, Taluka Shaheed Fazil Rahu (Golarchi),Taluka Tando Bago & near Dargah Luwari Sharif (Badin) Village Lal Bux Notkani (Gurho). The Nutkani people living in Baluchistan and in the Sulaiman Ranges speak Baluchi while those living in plains of Dera Ghazi Khan mostly speak Saraiki.

Subtribes

The sub tribe of Notkani or Nuthakzai are Asadi Nutkani, Maswani Nutkani, Sanjrani Nutkani, Usmani Nutkani, Malghani Nutkani, Kartani Nutkani, Mithwani Nutkani, Mankani or Malkani Nutkani, Lalwani Nutkani, Bakhwani, Bilwani, Laskani, Sanjrani, Mundrani Nutkani, Machrani, Shadani, Mirani, Umrani, Datani, Tangwani Nutkani and more sub tribes.[1] Many more are included in Great Nutkani tribe of Dera Ghazi Khan. The tribe has a strong political and economical influence in the region, the tribe also has a great educational level. Nutkani Balochs ruled Sangher till the end of eighteenth century AD. Nawab Mir Asad Khan and Nawab Mir Massu Khan were famous rulers of the place. Mir Asad Khan saved his state from Sikh occupation. Nawab Mir Asad Khan Nutkani was the Great Ruler of this tribe, who ruled sangher in British and Sikh periods and also before them. He was strict in his rules. After Nawab Mir Asad Khan Nutkani,Nawab Mir Massu Khan Nutkani was the ruler.Nutkanies ruled the Land of Sangher for Hundred of years and They are Lions of Sangher. They have fought many battles against british, Sikh, Buzdar, Qaisrani, Langhah in past. One fact why Nutkanies have no Tumman, because they were against British. Today all other socalled Tummans are only due to their services to Britain.[2]

There are many membersa of the Nutkani tribe who are Doctors, Engineers, Geologists, Lawyers in Pakistan and abroad.[3][4]

Royalty of Nutkanis

In Notkani tribe there is no Thumman because they never served the British raj and British rulers never gave them the Land like few other Sardars and Notkani chief Nawab Asad khan Notkani fought against them and created the resistance and said No to British. Notkani Tribe also fought in the Command of NAwab Massu Khan Notkani with the Sikh when Raja Ranjeeth Singh attacked to get their land and on that occasion at place "AAFF BAND" 40 Notkani Warriors were martyred but they never bow their head in front of British, Sikh, Bozdar, Qaisrani, Afghan and Jaskani people, etc.
