Nuclear Industry Association

The Nuclear Industry Association is the trade association for the civil nuclear industry in the United Kingdom.

History

It began as the British Nuclear Forum in 1963.

It was registered as a company on 29 March 1993.

Structure

It is situated on Pall Mall (A4) in Carlton House, London. The World Nuclear Association is based in the same building.

Function

It represents the British nuclear industry as a whole. It publishes the quarterly Industry Link magazine.^[1] It represents around 59,000 workers in the industry, but membership of the organisation is only via companies.

In December each year it hosts the Energy Choices annual conference.^[2] James Lovelock, a proponent of nuclear power (to the chagrin of environmentalists), has spoken at this event, as has Sir Patrick Moore.
