White-Narcisse War
In 1924, Chalky was running what used to be Babette's Supper Club and Chalky's right-hand man Dun Purnsley started working for Dr. Valentin Narcisse, whom was bringing in heroin into the black community. Chalky didn't want heroin in the North Side, because it was a bad business to get into and the people at his church confronted him about the heroin problem. Soon, Purnsley was running a major heroin ring and killed anyone who could not be trusted to keep the secret. Chalky ended up finding out that it was Purnsley not Moses (a man Purnsley killed and said who was running the heroin operation), and when Purnsley tried to kill Chalky, Chalky's mistress, Daughter Maitland, killed Purnsley.
Bader took Narcisse's side in the war and when Nucky ordered the police to hide and guard Chalky, Bader ordered the men to kill Chalky. Chalky escaped the policemen who were sent to kill him and killed them. Nucky was forced by Masseria and Narcisse to accept a subordinate role in organized in Atlantic City. Then, Chalky had his friend Harrow kill Narcisse, accidentally killing Chalky's daughter instead; Harrow was injured and died under the boardwalk. Narcisse was forced to leave Atlantic City and Nucky regained control of his empire.
