General elections were held in Northern Rhodesia on 30 October and 10 December 1962.[1] The results saw the white United Federal Party win sixteen seats, the United National Independence Party 14 seats, and the African National Congress seven seats.[2] Although ANC leader Harry Nkumbula had made a secret electoral pact with the UFP, he decided to join with UNIP to form a government.
