The Northern Police District (NPD)[1] is the agency of the Philippine National Police (PNP) responsible for law enforcement in the Northernmost part Metro Manila, covering the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela. The NPD is under the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), which also handles the Quezon City, Manila, Eastern and Southern Police Districts.

History

NPD was created and established on January 15, 1975, pursuant to the provisions of Presidential Decree (PD) Nr. 765 which also established the Integrated National Police (INP).[2]

The activated unit assumed control of the six (6) Police Stations in Metro Manila which includes Quezon City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Navotas City, Malabon City, and San Juan City. Its first garrisoned in Camp Tomas Karingal, Sikatuna Village, Quezon City.[2]

The City Council of Quezon City, on October 5, 1990, approved an ordinance, with concurrence of the Integrated National Police, ordering the creation of the Central Police District which became later as the Quezon City Police District. The Quezon City Police Station ceased to be part of the NPD and the unit moved its headquarters to the Caloocan City Police Station near the University of the East Caloocan Campus.[2]

In February 1992, the unit again moved to its current home in Tanigue St, Kaunlaran Village, Caloocan City.[2]
