North West Leicestershire District Council election, 2015

Elections to the North West Leicestershire District Council will take place on 7 May 2015,[1] along with a general election and other local elections in England. The whole council is up for election and every seat will be contested.

At the request of the previous administration, a boundary review took place during 2014 with a view to make every ward represented by one councillor. The total number of councillors remained at 38, meaning that the final proposals from the Local Government Boundary Commission for England have replaced a mixture of 20 single, double and triple-members wards with 38 new single-member wards.

The Conservative Party is defending a majority of 2 after they held control of the council at the previous election. The Labour Party are the only other party fielding a full slate of 38 candidates, meaning that this election will be the first time they have done so since the 2003 election. The Liberal Democrats are defending one seat and putting up 16 candidates. UKIP will be fielding their first candidates since 2007 and are standing in 14 seats. The Green Party are also standing one candidate in the Kegworth ward. There will also be 5 independent candidates and one candidate from the British Democratic Party.
