Nord Anglia International School Dubai, also known as NAS Dubai, is an international school in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The school was established in 2013 and will open ahead of schedule in September 2014 for the start of the academic year.[1]

Nord Anglia International School Dubai is part of the Nord Anglia Education Group. The International Schools division of Nord Anglia Education provides British education for children between the ages of 2 and 18 years in 27 international schools with over 17,000 students.

The school offers education of the English National Curriculum for students aged 3 – 14 years, expanding to age 18-year on year. The school will also have gained accreditation to offer the IB Diploma Programme for Year 12 for September 2018.

History

Founded in 1972, Nord Anglia Education's schools are located in North America, Middle East, Asia and Europe. These schools are currently home to over 17,000 students between the ages of 2 and 18 years. Schools of Nord Anglia Education follow the English National Curriculum which is adapted to fit the needs and culture of different regions. They also offer the International Baccalaureate, IGCSE's and in some places, A Levels, the French Baccalaureate and the Swiss Maturité.

Admissions

Nord Anglia International School Dubai believes that every child should be given the opportunity and support to be the best they can be. Each student is assessed on their first day of joining the school to keep track of their progress and development.

The school does require that students have a sufficient level of English to be able to cope with the English National Curriculum that is taught.

Class sizes are small and the school tries to organise students into classes so that they are comfortable in terms of language, abilities, nationality and gender.

Global Classroom

Nord Anglia Education provides the Global Classroom as a method of learning and communication. This programme allows students to interact informally and on a more educational level with fellow students across other countries.

Students who are part of the Global Classroom can interact with others in different ways:

(1) Online:

Students can communicate online through two different age appropriate areas; a Primary Global Community (year 4–6) and a Secondary Global Community (years 7 and above). All members can log in and access the site from any computer which has access to the internet.

(2) In-school:

Once a year, the schools set a challenge for their students. For example, in 2011, students were asked to create a mural with the guidance of the London-based art company, Edge of Arabia. Every year, the students are given different projects to enable their creativity and skills to improve and flourish.

The Global Classroom focuses on student development through their values and attitudes and gives them a chance to experience different attitudes and learn about diverse viewpoints.

Events

The school will host many internal and external events which involve the students, parents, staff and members of the community willing to participate.
