Nokha is a city and a municipality in Bikaner district in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Nokha was established as a krashi mandi (market) by contemporary king of Bikaner state Maharaja Ganga Singh.


Geography

Nokha is located at 27°36′N 73°25′E / 27.6°N 73.42°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 325 metres (1066 feet).

Demographics

As of the 2001 Indian census,[2] Nokha had a population of 49,704. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Nokha has an average literacy rate of 58%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 48%. In Nokha, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Business

Nokha has plenty of small scale industries including industries which manufacture woolen blankets, electric bulbs, fans and cable, food processing, etc. Food corporation of India has a very big storage down here and farmers around the town come and sell their produce to FCI directly. Nokha is famous for converting Military Jeeps to Open Jeeps. Cement Industry is another booming industry in Nokha as well as Silver Products Manufacturing. Nokha is the World's Biggest Moth mandi and also Famous for Guar and Gum Industries and Groundnut oil industries. Also the furniture industry is growing in Nokha,there is 1 super market in Nokha, named as "Khaki baba super market".
