Nocellara del Belice is an olive cultivar primarily grown in Sicily.[1] Also known as Castelvetrano olives in the United States and elsewhere,[2] these large, green olives have a mild, buttery flavor that makes them popular table olives,[2][3] though they are also used to produce olive oil.[4] The Nocellara del Belice has protected designation of origin DOC status in the European Union. Outside Italy, Nocellara del Belice olives are grown in India, Pakistan, and South Africa.[5]
