No. 42 Wing is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) wing responsible for operating the service's Boeing E-7A Wedgetail aircraft. The wing was formed for service during World War II, on 1 February 1943 at RAAF Base Townsville, Queensland, where it remained until it was disbanded on 1 October 1944. The wing was reformed on 1 January 2006 under the command of fighter pilot Group Captain David Willcox, and is located at RAAF Base Williamtown near Newcastle, New South Wales. It consists of a single flying squadron, No. 2 Squadron.
