Nizhneyansk (Russian: Нижнеянск) is an urban locality (a settlement) in Ust-Yansky District of the Sakha Republic, Russia, located in the delta of the Yana River, 602 kilometers (374 mi) north from Deputatsky, the administrative center of the district.[1] Population: 391 (2010 Census);[3] 701 (2002 Census);[6] 2,502 (1989 Census).[7]

History

It was founded in the 1940s and was granted urban-type settlement status in 1958.
