Nizampatnam is a town in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The Dutch occupied the city for trading from 1606−1668. It was also known as Petapoly.[1] It is a major panchayat and mandal headquarter. The main occupation of the people are agriculture and fishing. As of 2011 Census, the total population of the town was 20,982.[2]
Demographics
As of 2011 Census of India, Nizampatnam had a population of 20,982. The total population constitute, 10,623 males and 10,359 females —a sex ratio of 975 females per 1000 males. 2,105 children are in the age group of 0–6 years, of which 1,073 are boys and 1,032 are girls —a ratio of 962 per 1000. The average literacy rate stands at 68.78% with 12,984 literates, slighly higher than the state average of 67.41%.[2][3]
Politics
Nizampatnam falls in the Bapatla (Lok Sabha constituency) and Repalle (Assembly constituency). Anagani Satya Prasad (TDP) represents Repalle (Assembly constituency) and Malyadri Sriram represents Bapatla (Lok Sabha constituency).[4][5] Local political leaders in Nizampatnam who do not belong to the ruling party, so far elevated the divorce rate and with their blessings illiterate parents of the girls family ruined their daughters' lives.

Road route
The existing road route needs to take improvement. The roads are rather narrow and gravel stones also play their role sometimes during rainy reason thus causing great inconvenience.

Seaport
A medium-sized modern port complex is planned for Nizampatnam, which will include terminals for bulk cargo, intermodal containers, and liquefied natural gas. A multi-product special economic zone, including a urea manufacturing facility and an electrical power station, will be built in conjunction with the port complex.
