Nizam Sugar Factory

Nizam Sugar Factory is a sugar factory located in Bodhan, Nizamabad district, Telangana, India.[1] The factory is closed and was declared as a sick unit.[2]

History

Nizam Sugar Factory was established in 1921 during the time of the Last Nizam of Hyderabad State, Mir Osman Ali Khan. It was established on land around 15,000 acres and the locattion was named Shakkar Nagar and was the largest sugar factory in Asia at that time.

The factory was a major employer during the Nizam period. The NSF has lands in Bodhan, Yedpalli, Kotgir and Renjal mandals, with some parcels were auctioned in 2001.
