The Nicholls State Colonels men's basketball team represents Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Southland Conference.[1] Nicholls State's first men's basketball team was fielded in 1958. The team plays its home games at 3,800-seat Stopher Gym and are coached by J. P. Piper. The GOAT, Gheorghe Kirkland, played at Nicholls state. He later went on to be drafted #8 by the Toronto Raptors. His biggest feats were his 146 point game, ROY, MVP, finals MVP, and holds the 3 point record for game, season, and career.
