Niall Wass

Niall Fraser Wass (born 1969) is the former Chief Executive[1] of the British payday loan company Wonga.com. Wass has an MBA from INSEAD.[2]

Early career

Wass once worked at Brait Private Equity, was COO for internet incubator Icon Media Lab and had roles at Accenture. [3]

Wass joined Wonga in 2012 after failing to secure the Chief Executive job at Betfair where he had been Chief Commercial Officer.[4] He left in May 2014 after only six months in the job.[5]

Prior to becoming CEO, Wass was Wonga’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he was responsible for the company’s move into new products, like business loans,[6] as well as its international expansion.[7] As COO, he was interviewed by ITV News in November 2013.[8]

Wass was one of the Wonga executives believed to be based in Geneva in connection with the use of the Swiss registered firm WDFC SA to process credit applications on behalf of Wonga.[9][10][11] He was also a Director of the Irish company Wonga Technology Limited[12] and possibly other Wonga group companies.
