Early life

Mkondo was born in 1969 in Salisbury (now Harare). He is the first born in a family of 4 children, the first son of Paul Tangi Mhova Mkondo [1] & Maud Mkondo. He grew up in New Canaan, Highfields a famous township of Harare Province where nationalists like Joshua Nkomo, Robert Mugabe & Enos Nkala lived. He later moved with his family to Old Marimba Park Suburb in Harare.

Education and training

Mkondo did his (Grade 1) to Standard One (Grade 3) at St. Michael's Primary School, Harare. After Standard One, Mkondo went to Martindale Primary school, followed by Hartmann House, Borrowdale where he completed his Grade Seven education in 1981. He continued his secondary education at the oldest boy's school established in 1896 by the Jesuits called St George's College, Harare. After completing his A-Levels at Saints in 1987, for tertiary education Mkondo then attended University of Zimbabwe & received his honorary degree in Biochemistry. Under the government policy of graduate teacher programme, Mkondo taught A-Level science subjects at Nagle House Girls secondary school in Marondera, & then transferred to Churchill High School, Harare, Zimbabwe.

Entrepreneurship and businesses establishment

Mkondo was then employed by CABS as a biochemist in its pharmaceutical subsidiary called Datlabs. He travelled across the country as a biochemist for the company. Mkondo then decided to start his own business driven by the entrepreneural spirit and business acumen then ran in the family. Furthermore, Mkondo was also heavily involved in the already established Family businesses across the country, at executive board level, management & operational level. Mkondo established Siestum IT Consultants, which was arguably one of the first indigenous IT Consultancy firms in SADC, & specialised in IT Network Security (Cybersecurity).

Indigenous commercial farming

Mkondo is a successful Brahman Breeding farmer, furthermore he is also into wildlife & game management. An avid Conservationist, & believes in going green.

African Bass Master Champion

Mkondo started angling at an early age in his adolescents. He took his fishing seriously especially on annual family excursions to Kariba on a houseboat. Mkondo took his sport fishing especially Tiger fishing, Trout fishing & Bass Fishing seriously. He then decided to concentrate on Bass Master Angling Tournaments & Classic Tournaments. Mkondo broke the African Bass Master Record whilst on a tournament in Lake Manyame.[2]
