Plot

Linda (Kerin) inherits a retirement home called Montclare, a foreboding but apparently harmless place. While on a trip home to settle her deceased mother's estate, strange deaths begin to occur in the home. Eventually, Linda uncovers her mother's diary, which details identical events that occurred twenty years earlier.

Reception

Despite no Rotten Tomatoes approval rating as of today, Next of Kin currently has a 62% audience score. The film's pacing and atmosphere have been compared to that of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.

Super Reviewer Alex Roy called it a "brilliant Australian Supernatural haunted house horror film effectively directed by Tony Williams. This is an eerie and splendidly chilling movie that relies on a good cast of actors including renowned Aussie actor John Jarratt and Jackie Kerin." Super Reviewer Ken Stachnik stated that "while the film has it's [sic] flaws, it's [sic] use of atmosphere is unbelievable. Great elegant cinematography and really amazing slo-mo."
