The New Zealand women's national rugby union sevens team is New Zealand's representative team in rugby sevens for women. They are the reigning women's Rugby World Cup Sevens champions, having won the most recent edition in 2013,[2] and also have been a "core team" that participates in all rounds of the IRB Women's Sevens World Series since that competition's inception in 2012–13.[3][4]

IRB Women's Sevens World Series

New Zealand won the first leg of the 2012–13 IRB Women's Sevens World Series in Dubai by defeating South Africa 41 - 0 in the Cup final.[5] In the second leg of the series, (Houston, U.S.), New Zealand finished fourth after losing to the eventual tournament-winners England 12-19 in the semi-final. [6] They then came back for a strong finish to the season by winning the last two tournaments in China (Guangzhou) [7] and the Netherlands (Amsterdam) [8] to win the inaugural IRB Women's Sevens World Series.[9]

Honours

New Zealand did not have any official sevens team for women so they were unofficially represented by the New Zealand Wild Ducks and the Aotearoa Maori New Zealand teams during the years they were playing.
