The New Haven Fire Department (NHFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the city of New Haven, Connecticut, United States. The New Haven Fire Department currently serves a population of over 130,000 people living in 19 square miles of land.

The New Haven Fire Department is currently the second largest fire department in the state after Hartford. In 2014, the New Haven Fire Department responded to 28,274 emergency calls (EMS - 19,973 / Fire - 6,476). The New Haven Fire Department is the busiest in the state for fires [1]

The New Haven Fire Departments General Fund Budget for 2015 is $30,072,251 and NHFD's Capital Budget for 2015 is $1,100,000.

Each Engine and Truck Company in the NHFD, as well as Squad 2, is staffed by 4 personnel: a Driver, an Officer, and 2 Firefighters per shift. Squad 1 is staffed by 5 Personnel, a Driver, an Officer, and 3 Firefighters per shift. Each Emergency Unit is staffed with either 2 Paramedics or 1 Paramedic and 1 EMT per shift. Each Battalion Chief's Unit is staffed by a Battalion Chief per shift. The Deputy Chief's Unit is staffed by a Deputy Chief per shift.
