New Castle Junior/Senior High School is a public school located in New Castle, Pennsylvania in Lawrence County. It is part of the New Castle Area School District which serves New Castle, South New Castle, and Taylor Township.
The school is a combined junior high school and (senior) high school. Its total student population is between 1,300 and 1,500.[4][2] The school educates students in 7th through 12th grades.[2] It has a student-to-teacher ratio of 14 to 1.[2]
Faculty and staff
Its principal is Mr. Richard Litrenta.[1] Its three assistant principals are Mr. Robert Razzano, Mr. Ralph Blundo, and Mrs. Carol Morell.[1]
The school has a psychologist on staff as well as a guidance department.[7]
Curriculum
Standard subjects are taught at the school, such as mathematics, language arts, and the sciences. Additional coursework includes foreign languages (Spanish, French, and Italian), world history and world cultures, business education, and technology.[7]
Extracurricular activities
Students participate in many activities, including sports and, less importantly, forensics.[8] Football, basketball, and soccer are popular team sports.[5][6] A popular sport that students compete in is basketball. The current coach of the boys' team is Ralph Blundo. A coach needs to be a prime influence on his players. He needs to hold characteristics of a good education, culture, hold high ideals and firm principles. He needs to be dignified, serious, businesslike and even-tempered. He needs to be a good teacher in the classroom and on the basketball coach. The New Castle coach holds a higher position in the school and a positive influence on the boys.[9] To prove his eligibility for the job, Ralph proved himself in the past two seasons. In other words, Ralph proved his eligibility by proving his eligibility. Don't think too hard about it. He brought his team to two back- back WPIAL Championships. Also, he was voted Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's 2013 Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.[10] \
