New Brighton is a township of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

It was established in 1903, and was the first officially black residential area in Port Elizabeth. Many of Athol Fugard's plays are set in New Brighton.[2]

The first cell of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the armed wing of the ANC, was set up in New Brighton. The Red Location Museum is one of the main tourist attractions.[3]
