New Basket Enel Brindisi, also known as Enel Brindisi for sponsorship reasons, is a professional Italian basketball team playing in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A. It plays its matches at PalaPentassuglia (3,523 seats, restored in 2010) in the city of Brindisi in the Apulia region.

History

The basketball team was born in Brindisi in the 1950s under great Italian coach Elio Pentassuglia. Their first participation in the first divison was in 1974 as Libertas. Then in 1980 they returned as Bartolini Brindisi in a team that contained the Americans Otis Howard, Rich Yonakor, Cliff Pondexter and coach Rudy D'Amico, remaining until 1982.

After many years in the minor leagues they were recently acquired by entrepreneur Massimo Ferrarese along with Antonio Corliano, thereafter they won three lower league championships and in 2010 returned the city of Brindisi to the Italian top league after 28 years in the lower divisions. Their return lasted a season but they were again promoted following the 2011-2012 season. In 2014–15 Brindisi made its European debut in the EuroChallenge.
