Nevis Radio is a Community Radio station that broadcasts from the Ben Nevis Estate area of Fort William in Scotland and broadcasting to the communities in the surrounding region of Lochaber including Skye, Fort Augustus, Mallaig, Kinlochleven and all parts the Western Highlands.

Nevis Radio is Lochaber's very own radio station broadcasting 24 hours a day from Fort William with original programming for some of the day. The station launched back in 1992 with Ski FM from the Nevis Range ski resort. Every day, they kept skiers up to date with conditions on Aonach Mor. This was then followed by Holiday FM during the summer. It wasn't long until those behind the station's trial broadcasts realised that Locaber needed a permanent voice. Nevis Community Radio Action Group formed to raise funds and make a local radio station possible. Nevis Radio was awarded a full-time license back in 1994 and has been on the air ever since. Broadcasting to Lochaber and beyond.

The station broadcasts on 96.6 MHz (Fort William), 97.0 MHz (Glencoe), 102.3 MHz (Skye & Mallaig) and 102.4 (Loch Leven) FM, the station also transmits live on the net to UK listeners only. In 2008, it also started to provide a 'sustaining service' for Lochbroom FM in the Ullapool area outwith that station's locally produced hours, but this was later suspended in April 2008.

Events

Nevis Radio broadcasts from various events in and around our transmission area. Annually, the station broadcasts from The Scottish Six Days Trial, during which the breakfast show airs live from the event. Nevis Radio also broadcasts full weekend coverage of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. Other events include covering various Highland Games events.

News, sport, traffic and travel

Nevis Radio broadcasts a national news service from Sky News on the hour with local news provided during daytime hours by photographer Iain Ferguson with unattributed news stories taken directly from local paper the Lochaber News.. Traffic and travel updates feature during breakfast and drivetime shows, but are sourced primarily from the internet.
