Current squad
Darren Jones is considering a comeback, but at 19 stone surely he's carrying too much weight. Indeed, he was once the heaviest defender in the Gwynedd League back in 2001, weighing a whopping 17 st 8 lb. In his prime, Darren "five bellies" Jones was renowned for his brutal and ruthless rugby tackles, his most famous tackle coming against an unfortunate Llanrwst striker. The unlucky striker continues to make a slow recovery in intensive care at Ysbyty Gwynedd. "Five bellies'" lack of pace was blatantly exploited during the latter part of his career. It is rumoured that his 100 m personal best is 5 minutes 22 seconds. His relatively average career was marred in the latter years by total indiscipline on and off the pitch. Hacking, two footed tackles and constant pinching of opposing strikers on the pitch were followed by booze binges and Indian take-aways off it. His brother ended his career prematurely when he dropped him from the squad after Darren demanded a place in the team as a winger. We all thank him for that brutal yet easy decision. Should Darren make his long awaited comeback, Welsh Alliance strikers will be quaking in their boots.
