Neendakara is a village in Kollam district 9 km north of Kollam city in Kerala, India. It is Kollam district's intermediate fishing port. Neendakara is 30 km north of Paravur.
When Portuguese traders settled in Kollam (then Quilon) in the early 16th century, their ships passed through the Neenadakara bar, now the site of Neendakara Bridge, part of National Highway 47, which connects the village to Sakthikulangara across Ashtamudi Lake. In Malayalam, Neendakara means "a long bank".[1]
The headquarters of the Indo-Norwegian Fisheries Community project, established in 1953, was based in Neendakara until 1961, when the site was handed over to the Government of Kerala.[2]

Neendakara is located at (Commonly called as KOCHU AMERICA- it means small America) the borders of Kollam Municipal Corporation.
Importance
Neendakara is one of the prime port locations in Kerala. It is a strategic small port located in the East-West International Sea route and around 8 km from Kollam district of Kerala. Also Neendakara is famous for its Fishing Harbour and related Marine export oriented businesses.
Demography
Majority of the citizens of Neendakara are Christians,Followed by Hindus and a very minor population of Muslims.
Religious institutions
St. Sebastian's Church is one of the important and the ancient (more than 900 years) Church in Kerala belongs to the Diocese of Quilon (which is the First Dioceses in Asia) Every year on January the feast of St. Sebastian is a big event for the entire Christian families of Neendakara as well as Kollam. All the people,relatives, friends from every part of the world make a get together for that feast .
The holy precision(Rasa) carrying the statue of st. Sebastian and mother Mary is the biggest event of the feast .All the streets and houses where decorated with lights and share their joys by giving sweets and food to others .
All the people irrespective of caste, creed and religion joined together to host the feast as one community .
Christimas and Easter is another major events.
The marriages among the Christian communities is another highlighted thing, The amount of money spending for the Christians marriages is comparatively very very higher than the Kerala state average.This is the same case with the nearby village Sakthikulangara.
Economy
Till a few years back, the inhabitants were mainly engaged in fishing and marine related exports. Recently, many of them are seeking employment in the middle-east countries. These jobs has contributed to a decent living for many people.
